When talking about October, there is a significant festival around the world especially in western countries. That is Halloween! Halloween is the holiday that no matter what age you are, you get a little excited for. Unlike Christmas, Halloween is a holiday that us young adults have an excuse to dress up in ridiculous costumes and have a little too much fun for the night. There's nothing better than eating candy and dressing up. Usuallyit is a holiday celebrated each year on October 31. This year Halloween will occur on Monday, October 31. The evening before was known as All Hallows Eve, and later Halloween.

Since we're closer to Halloween, I want to highlight just how Christian the origins of the holiday are. Halloweens origins date back to the ancient Celtic festival of Samhain. The Celts, who lived 2,000 years ago, mostly in the area that is now Ireland, the United Kingdom and northern France, celebrated their new year on November 1. Halloween marked the end of summer and the harvest and the beginning of the dark, cold winter, a time of year that was often associated with human death. On the night of October 31 they celebrated Samhain, when it was believed that the ghosts of the dead returned to earth.

Being one of the oldest holiday festivals, Halloween is widely celebrated in many countries like Austria, Belgium, England, France, Germany, Mexico and so on. But United States and Canada are most popular for the best celebration of this great festival around the world. According to an estimate, 65% American decorates their working places, homes as well as their buildings before starting this festival. On this festival the candy is sold the most. Different countries have much dissimilarity in their Halloween traditions and customs, following is a list of different countries that celebrate Halloween around the world with their own tradition and cultures. Over time, Halloween evolved various of activities like trick-or-treating, carving jack-o-lanterns, festive gatherings, donning costumes and eating treats.

Pumpkins have become a symbol of Halloween all over the world. Do you know why? Symbolically, because the pumpkin is often linked to rebirth and fertility, and they also symbolize harvests and crops. The pumpkin is the hallmark of Halloween, and on all hallows eve, pumpkins will light up the streets all over the country. They may be a little scary especially in the evenings with light. And they are normally lit with candles, they are easy to hollow out and cut patterns into. But it will be the best decoration for Halloween!
